Mr.Wise Guy

"Before God we are all equally wise - and equally foolish."
Albert Einstein

-My translation : Whoever knows himself is a fool is wise, whoever thinks himself is wise is a fool.

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex.. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction. "
Albert Einstein

-My comment : No one has put this fact the better way.

Just Do It

Phrases which are cool like nike's tagline has helped me to do things without questions.

" Are you sure of this? "

" No need think so much de lah.. Just do it lah.. "

There's a imitation brand called niki, it always makes me laugh. The combination of niki and its tagline 'Just Did It' is really adorable.

Logically, it has helped me to go through things and saved my thoughts, but most of the times, I think this phrase has corrupted many of us, helping us do something that we regret later on, or maybe bring suffering to ourselves or to others. I'm sure everyone's aware of this and agree to this. But, this type of phrases kinda stick into our heads, especially in decision making, and facing peer pressure, and the feeling when everyone is waiting for you to " JUST DO IT".

I myself is used to ask alot of questions, and some people do complain about this, maybe it is 'unjoyful' or 'uncool' to them. People say I think too much. From young, I thought questions are the basic to learning progess in life, but as I grow older, when questions gets harder, and when the answers can make a big impact, people kinda gets scared and feel hard to accept certain kind of questions invoked. The answer is " You are thinking too much, friend"

I kinda hate that answer, cause it paralyzes us. Yes, in certain situations, we do not know the answer, and not all questions can be answered. Sometimes, we have to learn by trying (not drugs). But I always believe in making the best of out of everything even we can't get it all perfect, like the way people try their best to find money even if they can't find it all. They are doing the best.

As humans, we are gifted with the wit, even animals can learn simple things in repetition. It is our advantage. Other than the wit, we are weak in many areas. Should we just ignore questions to lessen our worries? For me, I would want to be better than an animal..

Are you God?

" What's your religion?" says Mr. Beh.

" Me? I don't really have a religion, but just namely a (religion) , sometimes I just follow my wife to the (place of worship) , what most matters to me most is my family, " says Mr. Tan.

These conversation and similiar ones are increasingly more common in today's world. It is not unexpected especially in cities, where everyone's busy. " It is a modern world, its not ice age anymore, we have better things to do and think more than thinking who is God and who is not," says the world. For me, that kind of reply seems more like a " I am God ".

Atheists are those who does not believe in God or who does not care. Truthfully speaking, they believe they are Gods themselves, this may sound hilarious to you but it is true. Everyone has a God that they work and live for. Your God actually is the first priority in your life. For atheists, it is themselves, or things that are important to them, the same list=money, love, sex, or power etc..

At many times, some Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus and so on may be atheists themselves as at times, they work and think for themselves. Some may pray for richness and goodness and happiness, most of this involves themselves aren't they? Should we stop and think who is really our God in our lives? Is it ourselves?

The balance

If there's no good, there's no bad. Similarly, there's no black there's no white. I call this the black and white theory or simply, the balance. What this means is if there's no bad, we can't define what is good, if everything is black, we do not know what is white. Its like yin and yang, I am not spreading a religion here, but it is real in our lives(seems to me).

A situation here can explain well the balance. A person gone through so much trouble when gets to rest on his bed feels so much happiness. For a normal person, who gets to sleep well everyday, doesn't feel that kind of positivity. On the other hand, a blind person from birth doesn't experience much pain as a person who can see from young then got blind. In words, a person who has gone through much suffering can experience joy in a simple happiness while a person who has gone through much joy can experience much suffering in a simple pain.

Can we use this balance to make ourselves happy? Or does it limit us?

A simple situation we can use this balance is that we work hard everyday for the weekend, preventing ourselves from having a movie at the cinema (an example) , until the weekend. We will enjoy it more rather than watching movie everyday. Another story can be told of is in a relationship, if we treat everyone great like we treat our lovers, our lovers will get jealous. So if we treat everyone really bad, and we treat her a bit of good, she will feel special. A poor kid will get so happy if he gets a candy, while a rich kid will only be happy if he gets to the disneyland.

Human wants something whiter than the 'white' we saw, unless we reduce the 'white' to the black, then we will treasure anything that is white. So should we go to the black sometimes? Does God create evil and hell to glorify Himself and to remind us of the balance?

The road not taken

Lives are actually almost like roads, there are shortcuts, highways, off track routes etc.. When you come to a crossroad, you have to decide. If the 2 roads seems almost similiar, it will be hard. When there's a shortcut, you may think of its dangers taking it. Its all about choices and decisions. The easy way out of this, is having a clear direction where are we heading. Happiness? Peace? Love? Richness?

Majority won't think of this, as they just go with the flow, or just decide what are we feeling (sounds like an animal). In the market world, this type of group are the easiest to cheat. They can just twist the signboard and lead you off track in moments. With the digital technology and media, and girls who can talk, we are blinded.

The sad truth is, we are all heading towards death, we are on a death train, the last stop is death. We are enjoying ourselves on the train, trying to forget about death (touch wood).

I always wonder about the path or road not taken, the decisions that is not our normal way of doing it. In the Fringe movie, it touched abit about this, stating deja vu as a short memory of another world, where it is like a mirror world to ours, where we make decisions the other way, or the road not taken. Below, is a poem once I learnt in high school by Robert Frost. I only understand it now..

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN (ROBERT FROST- 1920)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
